Key plants and their use described in bitter orange body oil: - Bitter and Sweet Orange Oils - Sweet Almond Oil - St John's Wort buds and petals - Marigold flowers Bitter and sweet orange essential oils (citrus aurantium) These come from Neroli flowers and Pettigrain leaves and shoots of the Orange tree. They are both enormously soothing, sedative and highly relaxing, even to the point of inducing sleepiness. Their fragrance is highly intoxicating and it makes this body oil what it is, sensual and soothing. Sweet almond (prunus communis dulcis) Deeply moisturising and nourishing, this fruit kernel oil has an extremely light texture, so fine in fact that it is very quickly absorbed into the skin and leaves no trace of stickiness. It is rich in essential fatty acids. St. john's wort (hypericum perforatum) The deep red colour of St. John's Wort's Oil is obtained from the infused flowers and buds. Herbalists revere it for its anti-inflammatory and healing qualities and use it for anything from sunburn and burns to cuts, bruises and more. This is helpful for life's knocks or razor scratches. Soothing and nourishing, it is also immensely useful for skin regeneration. Marigold oil (calendula officinalis) As a ‘cure all' skin plant, Marigold is capable of disarming surface bacteria and other pathogens. It is then able to promote healthy skin growth by quickly forming new tissue. Additionally it reduces any irritations, bruises, reddening and inflammation with its soothing compounds. It is used by herbalists for a range of medical skin conditions from acne to dermatitis, which is why it makes a good body oil choice.

Directions

Massage gently into the skin after a shower or bath when pores are still open as it will be more easily absorbed and will keep the skin softer and more ‘buffered' as a result. This body oil can also be used as a massage oil.
