5-HTP is usually taken 30 mins before going to bed, as it produces Melatonin as well as Serotonin, and Melatonin is a sleep-inducing hormone. The effects of taking 5HTP can be felt within 10 to 30 mins. It is important NOT to take more than 100mg 5-HTP per day.
